feature festival says ‘kaya’ to successful season
Chevron Australia is proud to support Perth Festival – celebrating diversity, innovation and a commitment to improving lives by bringing world-class cultural experiences to the local community.
According to a recent impact report, the 2020 festival attracted new audiences and extended its vital role in assisting local artists.
The first of four festivals under Artistic Director Iain Grandage, it was a success on every social, cultural, civic, economic and tourism measure.
Importantly, survey respondents rated the festival an outstanding platform for Indigenous culture, authentic local stories and exciting collaborations between WA and international artists.
Many respondents said the festival enhanced social harmony, made them feel proud of Perth and better connected to their community.
Chevron Australia Managing Director Al Williams said the 2020 program reflected the diversity Chevron wants to see in our community, with the arts being one of those areas where diversity comes to life.
“In its opening week the festival celebrated Aboriginal culture – a first for any major Australian international arts festival – helping build knowledge and understanding among its audience, creating a more inclusive community and taking another step forward on our city’s path to reconciliation," he said.

The festival also introduced a new contemporary music venue - the Chevron Lighthouse - in the grounds of the Perth Concert Hall, where local and international artists took to the stage to record crowds.
Response to this new festival hub venue was outstanding, with 94 percent of Chevron Lighthouse attendees having had a good or excellent experience and 38 percent of audiences attending the festival’s contemporary music program for the first time.
For 16 years, Chevron Australia has proudly partnered with Perth Festival to bring inspiring, thought-provoking and life-enhancing cultural experiences to the people of Perth – celebrating the power of Human Energy and helping to make the city a vibrant place to live and work.
