At Chevron, we’re proud of the contribution we make to Australia through investing in our suppliers and supporting local employment.
After graduating from the Wheatstone Operations Aboriginal Employment Program, Trainee of the Year Nominee Des Drummond has recently been welcomed as a full-time employee at the Wheatstone LNG Project Supply Base.
As a member of the team since January 2013, Des is one of several local trainees to gain employment during construction of the Wheatstone LNG Project and progress onto great achievements.
The Wheatstone Operations Aboriginal Employment Program provides Aboriginal people living in Onslow the opportunity to develop important skills and experience necessary for employment within the oil and gas industry.
Through ongoing mentoring and training, Chevron-supported traineeship programs provide on-the-job skills while allowing participants to work towards a formal qualification.

“This new position is not just a tremendous personal achievement, but testament to the impact local engagement has on small communities. Des should be proud to be paving the way for other Onslow locals to gain employment at Wheatstone.”
