media statement Chevron Announces Leadership Changes
- Nigel Hearne appointed Managing Director of Australasia Business Unit
- Roy Krzywosinski to head Engineering for Chevron
PERTH, Western Australia, May 5, 2016 – Chevron Australia Pty Ltd said today Nigel Hearne, deputy managing director of Chevron Australia and its Australasia Business Unit (ABU), will become managing director of the ABU on June 1, 2016. This transition follows Hearne’s appointment to deputy managing director earlier this year.
In turn, the company said Roy Krzywosinski, currently managing director of the ABU, has been appointed to the new position of vice president of Engineering in Chevron’s Energy Technology Company (ETC) in Houston, TX. Krzywosinski will report to Paul Siegele, president of ETC and chief technology officer. His appointment is also effective June 1.
“Nigel’s appointment reflects his strong downstream and upstream operating experience, combined with his proven record of leading large, complex operations, such as our Richmond refinery,” said Steve W. Green, president of Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration and Production. “He is well-qualified to position us for success as Australia commences operations at our world-class Gorgon and Wheatstone facilities.”
Hearne, who will report to Green, joined Texaco in 1989 as a power engineer at the Pembroke Refinery in the United Kingdom. He progressed through refinery positions of increasing responsibility, becoming operations manager at Pembroke before being appointed refinery business manager of our El Segundo Refinery in 2005. In 2006, Hearne was named operations manager at El Segundo, a role he held until 2010 when he became vice president of strategy for Chevron’s Downstream Strategy, Technology & Commercial Integration business unit. In 2011, Hearne was named general manager of the Richmond Refinery. Before being named to his current position in January of this year, he was vice president of the Appalachian/Michigan Business Unit.
In his new role, Krzywosinski will have enterprise-wide responsibility for Facilities Engineering. As part of this move, the company is consolidating ETC’s Facilities Engineering department with the Upstream Capabilities Facilities Engineering group into a single organization within ETC. Krzywosinski’s prior experience as the general manager of Facilities Engineering and president of Chevron’s Project Resources Company (PRC) makes him well-suited to assume this important role as we look to advance Chevron’s technical capabilities and authority across the company.
“What Roy and his team have achieved in developing Gorgon and Wheatstone is extraordinary,” said Green. “Gorgon, itself, represents the largest resource project in the history of Australia and the single largest capital investment in our company’s history. These two projects will generate significant value for Australia and Chevron’s shareholders for decades to come.”
Krzywosinski joined Chevron in 1981 as a design and construction engineer. Since that time, he has held a variety of positions, including: technical and operations advisor for the Indonesia Strategic Business Unit; operations manager for Chevron Downstream Products Company in Honolulu; major capital projects manager for the Papua New Guinea Strategic Business Unit; major capital project director in Angola; and general manager of Facilities Engineering for ETC. Prior to his current role he was president and general manager of Chevron PRC.
Chevron is one of the world's leading integrated energy companies and through its Australian subsidiaries, has been present in Australia for more than 60 years. With the ingenuity and commitment of thousands of workers, Chevron Australia leads the development of the Gorgon and Wheatstone natural gas projects; manages its equal one-sixth interest in the North West Shelf Venture; operates Australia’s largest onshore oilfield on Barrow Island, is a significant investor in exploration.
